Mike and Missy Wilson's Amazing Haiti Story on NBC's Rock Center

Watch this great segment NBC did on our friends Mike and Missy Wilson's amazing story of adopting two beautiful girls and their continued efforts in Haiti.

You can learn more about Mike and Missy out by going to their website, www.MyLifeSpeaks.com, and even help out by making a donation or serving in some other way.

The rest of this blog is more family and friends who like the whole six-degrees-of-separation thing (or, two degrees of separation).  I first met Missy sitting at a picnic table at the orphanage/guest house you see in the NBC video, and our conversation went something like this: "You're an American?  Me, too.  You're from Tennessee?  Me, too. You're from Nashville? You live where?" And it turns out we met in a third world country, even though we have a lot of friends in common and live pretty close together, too.  They're great people and certainly worth the effort to pray for and help in their mission.

In the video you'll also see Dr. Bernard, who is just great.  He was educated in the US and went back to Haiti to help his people long before the earthquake.  He's extremely intelligent, hardworking, and one of those people you just love and root for.  He injured his back jumping out of a second story window during the earthquake, but despite being slowed down by that, he and his wife have continued to serve, acting as a conduit for churches, businesses, and mission teams working to rebuild Haiti.

When we went down in 2010, they didn't have a promo video for their amazing guest house, so I decided to make one for them at the last minute.  For future reference, if you're going to make a promotional video, don't do it at 5AM, and don't do it after being exhausted from a rewarding but grueling week of building a house in July in Haiti :)

Here is an impromptu tour of the playground area at the orphanage, which you saw on the Rock Center piece.

The next video got the most feedback of 'holy cow, that's crazy, that's insane!'  It's called "The Long Walk".  (for French snobs, please excuse my French- I realize I'm off on my translation- it was my first day speaking French all the time :)

Finally, here is the recap video of our trip.  You can see more at HDMenHaiti.com, or youtube.com/hdmenhaiti
