HAITI

In July 2010, I went on trip to rebuild a house for a widow, her daughter, and three grandchildren, two of whom had lost their mother in the earthquake.  I finally got to put to use all those French classes to work!

We put together a website for the team, www.HDMenHaiti.com, which detailed our trip, and also the most recent trip for the March 2011 team.  I hope to return soon, possibly leading or co-leading a team late summer or fall 2011.

You can also view some great videos at http://www.youtube.com/hdmenhaiti.

If you can only watch one video, this is what you should view: The Long Walk. This sums up how hard it is to move and build in Haiti, and that despite being in full triathlon training mode, I was wiped out just after the first day. Thank goodness for the Holy Spirit and a pool at the guest house!

PS- I'm heading on a medical/dental trip to the Dominican Republic this summer as well, and working on learning some Spanish.
